Melissa is a serial entrepreneur and has been working for herself since 2003. Once the owner and operator of Natural Lullabies, a retail store and community center that opened in 2003 in South Tulsa. Melissa also developed and still teaches a holistic childbirth education curriculum called Pure Birth which incorporate mindfulness into birth. She has been teaching childbirth classes and attending births as a doula since 2003 with over 160 births and over 1,500 childbirth classes. Melissa has also been invovled in many other projects and has opened two different yoga studios. Melissa also has enjoyed sharing yoga in many different capacities since her teacher training in 2005 and has taught over 2,000 yoga classes. She recently opened a new yoga studio on Cherry Street called Cherry Street Yoga. As the Creative Director of I AM, Melissa designs the websites, manages social media and print design, marketing and much more. Melissa graduated from the University of Tulsa in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and has been the Director of the I AM Yoga, Art + Music Festival since 2011.
Shannon is a community-oriented lover of yogi and celebrations. As a host of many large parties and celebrations over the years, Shannon brings her eye for detail and loyal dedication to yoga. Shannon first met Melissa while taking prenatal yoga from her over seven years ago. They quickly became good friends and have remained a steady part of each other's lives since then. As the Event Director of I AM, Shannon organizes the design and layout of many of our events, works with local yoga instructors, handles many of our sponsorships and brings a smile to every event.
Dana Morris is a mother of four in Tulsa, OK. Her journey into children's yoga began five years ago when well meaning friends and family suggested her son get on medication for ADD/ADHD before school started. Unable to find a kids yoga instructor here in Tulsa, Dana flew out to California to get certified herself. In 2011 Dana studied under Shakta Kaur Khalsa, one of the world's leading experts in children's yoga, and completed Radiant Child Yoga's certification. On her return she created Buddhaful Child Yoga and started teaching kids yoga in studios and schools around Tulsa. Since then, she has been certified with Next Generation Yoga, Cosmic Kids Yoga, James Fox's Prison Yoga Project and is a Journey of a Young Woman Mentor. In the winter of 2013, Dana became the children's yoga expert and contributing writer for Upside Down Games, a company in LA committed to helping children grow into healthy, intelligent, socially conscious members of society. In addition, she is the Kid Zone Coordinator for the I AM Yoga, Music & Art Festival. She is also co-creator of the Hope Yoga Project, a ground breaking clinical research study documenting the effects of yoga with children and teens with PTSD and/or trauma. Dana is also certfied in Aerial Yoga and is currently launching a new Kids Yoga program in Tulsa, called I AM KIDS Tulsa.
Our emcee and stage director for the last four festivals, Jillian is an important contributor to the success of the I AM Yoga, Art + Music Festival. Jillian is a voice over artist professionally and lights up the stage with her fun personality!
